International Service

One of the goals of Rotary is to have a positive impact on the world community. We do this through International Projects, in which a local Host Club will partner with an International Club to execute a humanitarian project that will respond to real community needs. Funding for large international projects with sustainable, measurable outcomes in one of Rotary's areas of focus, of which there are six--fighting disease, providing clean water, saving women and children, growing local economies, supporting education, and promoting peace—and are provided through the Rotary Foundation's Global Grants program.

The following are examples of international projects that the Rotary Club of San Pedro has participated in the past or plans to participate in the near future:

  • Migori Water and Sanitation Project in Kenya

To provide reliable, clean water, hand wash stations and latrines to eight primary schools in Migori County, Kenya. With over 3,500 students and no source of clean water on campus, these schools only had access to polluted water from sources up to 1.5 miles away. The grant money was used for roof gutters, two 2,500 gallon water tanks, a hand wash station, and a 2 door latrine.
