Becoming an Author Has No Expiration Date

I am a speaker and author of 15 published books including mystery novels, a thriller and a biography of a World War II veteran. I give a humorous and entertaining presentation titled “Becoming an Author Has No Expiration Date” about starting to write later in life and writing about older characters.

Here is further information about me and my published books:

In the May, 2008, issue of the AARP Bulletin Mike Befeler was identified as one of four authors in a new emerging mystery sub-genre. Harlan Coben, president of Mystery Writers of America stated, “We’ve just scratched the surface on geezer-lit. It could be the next frontier in crime fiction.”

Mike turned his attention to speaking and writing after a 39-year career in the computer industry.  He holds a Master’s degree from UCLA, a Bachelor’s degree from Stanford and resides in Lakewood, California, with his wife Wendy. He is past president of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of Mystery Writers of America.

His six published novels in the Paul Jacobson Geezer-lit Mystery Series are: RETIREMENT HOMES ARE MURDER (2007); LIVING WITH YOUR KIDS IS MURDER (2009), a finalist for The Lefty Award for best humorous mystery of 2009; SENIOR MOMENTS ARE MURDER (2011); CRUISING IN YOUR EIGHTIES IS MURDER (2012), a finalist for The Lefty Award for best humorous mystery of 2012; CARE HOMES ARE MURDER (2013); and NURSING HOMES ARE MURDER (2014). His standalone books include MYSTERY OF THE DINNER PLAYHOUSE (2015) and MURDER ON THE SWITZERLAND TRAIL (2015), COURT TROUBLE: A PLATFORM TENNIS MYSTERY (2016), THE TESLA LEGACY: AN INTERNATIONAL THRILLER (2017); DEATH OF A SCAM ARTIST (2017); and UNSTUFF YOUR STUFF (2018). He also is the author of a biography of a World War II soldier, THE BEST CHICKEN THIEF IN ALL OF EUROPE (2015).
