Our 4th Annual Community Reading Day event will be held on Saturday March 23 at the local branch of the Los Angeles Public Library in San Pedro from 2PM to 4PM.

The intent of this program is to instill a love for reading - a skill that is the key to success as these students move beyond the simple concepts of early school training. Better early readers can open the doors to opportunity in all the future phases of life. Our program is designed to identify and include the most challenged local children and give them tools and inspiration to develop literacy skills to achieve success in school and in life.

This fun and entertaining program will include a library tour, instant library cards for those who do not have them, and children's book authors Annabeth Bondor-Stone and Connor White will present their wild and whacky reading of their book "SHIVERS - The Pirate Who is Afraid of EVERYTHING!". Following the authors reading their book will be an interactive session where the audience creates characters, a narrative, and completes a simple story. What fun! At the end of the program there are snacks and every child will receive a backpack of several good books to own, including an autographed copy of "Shivers!"

Wanting to see Annabeth and Connor in action? Check out their video link here!

And while the kids are busy, their parents or caregivers will be coached by a skilled bilingual educator in habits and tools that support building good reading skills at home.

Join us! You're sure to have an incredibly memorable afternoon.
