Last week we socialized at fellow Rotarian and major success story Manny Jimenez's newly opened Black Knight Patrol office. Not only was it a lot of fun to see Manny and his new digs, but it was great seeing most of you there too! Having a couple of minutes to catch up with everyone was a true joy, and from the overall vibe, most people seemed to echo that feeling. If you want to repeat the fun next week, Manny's office is having a grand opening from 6-9pm at his office on Thursday, September 6.

This month's 5th Thursday is August 30th, this Thursday! To commemorate the day, we're fellowshipping at Off the Vine (491 W 6th St #103 San Pedro). Swing by, bring a friend, have a glass of wine, and we'll see if the night takes us to see a play at the The Little Fish theater! Check out Off the Vine's website to see what snacks they have. Our 5th Thursday fellowship is not a meeting, but an opportunity for us to get together and just hang. No contests. No raffle. Just smiles, joy, and friends. See you there!

Separately, we have incredibly exciting news: another application for membershipDominique Marino is currently a volunteer coordinator at the Boys and Girls Club and has been with B&G for over three years. She has already planned and delivered a joint Rotary - Boys and Girls club service event, and is already thinking about our next one. Dominique is full of energy, has attended three meetings so far, and is very excited to join our club to continue giving back to the community. The board voted to approve her application for membership, so we'd like you -- the members of the club -- to weigh in. If you have any objections about her joining, please send comments to me by close of business Monday, September 3rd

Lastly, remember to wear your Rotary pins! Wear it to work, wear it to your meetings. Wear them in the house, wear it on your blouse! As Rotary International President Barry Rassin says -- Be The Inspiration! We do a lot of good in San Pedro and globally. Let's keep our visibility and presence up.

And, as always, if you have a project you think our club should get involved in -- even if we've never done it before -- suggest it to one of the board members! We'd love to hear about it, and the project will help keep us meeting our goal of two service projects per month!

Have a great Tuesday!
