The Rotary Club of San Pedro is involved in many areas of the community, from offering scholarships to students, to distributing presents to families unable to afford them, to providing grants to nonprofits throughout the region. Take a look at some of the areas we are actively participating to support our San Pedro community.

Hero's Dinner

Every year we have an annual dinner honoring the heroes in our community. All proceeds are donated to organizations contributing to the major causes our club and community care about and are striving to mitigate.

Crab Feed

Another forum for our club to support all the groups and individuals that we want. This year, we had 300lbs of fresh Dungeness crab, over 150 attendees, 4 live auction prizes, 20+ silent auction prizes, 30+ desserts, nearly 60 volunteers, and raised almost $12,000 net to disperse throughout the San Pedro and international community!

Pathways to Employment

Started only five short years ago, this event was designed with our youth pursuing and keeping a job in mind. It has grown to be a foundational feature of our club, organizing workshops for notable community leaders to meet with our youth, mentor them through the various job application processes, and even offer internship and job opportunities at the event.

Reading Day

Our first annual reading-focused event, we are battling illiteracy by organizing “San Pedro Rotary Readers” in April at the Los Angeles Public Library on Gaffey. We are bringing at-risk children into contact with authors, illustrators and storytellers (meet two of them below), presenting the magical world of reading in a fast-paced, fun and interactive way. Participating children will receive a backpack with age-appropriate books, resources, and other items that will assist them in their journey to literacy.
